A Story of the Early Christian Church Through the Eyes of John Mark
Who was the first African missionary? In the Jesus’ story, who was the young man carrying water, normally a woman’s job in those days? Who was the young man who fled naked from the Garden of Gethsamene? Why did John Mark leave Paul’s first missionary journey so abruptly? What was the basis of the relationship between Paul and Peter? Who founded the Christian church in Alexandria now known as the Coptic Church?
This book attempts to answer these questions. It takes the Gospel of Mark and the Acts of the Apostles as its main inspiration but uses other less well known sources to arrive at this compelling version of events. The time line is based on history but some notable events such as the death of the Virgin Mary have been inserted to allow the story to flow.
There is little factual history concerning the life of John Mark and the author has woven some traditional stories in with the main storyline to make a lifelike word picture of the early church in Jerusalem and the Roman world.
