The author is Kiwi born, a Southlander by birth, who volunteered for army service overseas when the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force was formed to support Britain following Germany’s aggressions in Europe. Britain declared war on September 3rd 1939. New Zealand soon indicated her support would be given.
